making mead

Bet you don't know what mead is!  I'll tell ya, it's honey wine.  They use to drink it all the time in the middle ages.  A few years ago in a land far away....okay maybe not that far away it was only in Virginia but it was a few years ago, my darling husband wanted to make some mead but he didn't really know how, so he bought a book and looked on the internet for recipes ~I guess it wasn't that long ago if we had internet, LOL~ and we made some mead.  Yummy, yum, yum!  But it will knock you on your ass at 15-17% alcohol if you're not careful.  Here it is just getting started it takes up to 30 days for all the yeast to eat the sugar and he/we'll take it out of this jug, put it in another (smaller) jug and then wait some more for it to ferment then bottle that up and wait for Dec to have a winter solstice party like any good middle ager!  Want to come?
