cold yucky day.

It's true what they say about April showers bring May flowers but man it's cold out even the birds wish the weather would warm up!

Rainy day at the cider mill

The weather was good ~for the ducks~ but it did hold off raining while we where there to enjoy the donuts and cider at Franklin Cider Mill The kids had a great time and the cider was so yummy....wish there was a good cider mill around me.  Oh well I guess this is another reason to visit family in the north.

three geese in a row

After coming back from the mountains we went to the lake.  Instead of photos of the girls frolicking in the watch it's a photo of  Canada geese taking a break in the water.  such a peaceful thing to watch for a minute until you turn back and see your kiddos playing in the water having fun.

birds

ahhh to be back home after a fun weekend away.  Nope, not the kiddos, not the hubby but a bird made it as my photo of the day.  kind of boring but still, it's what I wanted to take a picture of.

Florida cranes

just it's mostly an animal week so far.  I have always thought cranes were beautiful birds, very elegant, regal almost.  Never really got a chance to take photos of them this close without them flying away.  So I am happy to admit that I really proud this photo.

backyard birds

These are taken from my back window, it's just too cold for me to be outside.  I love the look of cardinals in the winter.  The bright red in the gray-brown trees without leaves with snow to make them stand out more.  The puffed up feathers to stay warm I bet they dream of summer too when it's this cold.

Mar 26

Look up in the sky what do you see?  Look up at the tree tops what do you see?  Just a crow hanging on to the top branches in breeze.  Wait there he goes.

feed the birds

The coolest thing about having a early spring is the birds are all around.  The sad thing is that with the really cold weather we've been having the ground is frozen and they can't get to the worms.  I feed the birds stale bread, chips and popcorn.  And this morning it most have been really cold because they were all over my table fighting for the food.....that is until T opened the door to let the cat out.  Boy was her tail twitching before going out.  After she went out no more bird.

winter cardinal

I love the look of cardinals in the winter.  The RED of them in the gray looking trees without leaves makes the cardinals look so different then in the summer.  In my backyard there are at least 3 male cardinals looking for mates....or food.  Today I  saw 3 fluttering about.  It was a cold and blustery day as you can see with this little guy all puffed up to stay warm.  I was able to take a few shots of him before he flew away like the other two did before I could get outside with my camera.

Canadain geese

I decided to bring my camera with me while doing all sort of running around today.  I got lucky with this shot, I didn't even have to get out of the car for it. :-D  I stopped at a stop sign and this is what I saw.  I just had to take their picture.  I love the way the goose is looking in the same direction as the One Way sign is pointing which by the way is pointing NORTH!  LOL   You know spring is near in Georgia when you start seeing Canadian geese in January.
