soaking up the sun

Today was beautiful and I sat outside soaking up the first good day of the season.  A slight breeze, birds singing and glorious sun shinning on my face.  Yes, today was beautiful, so I went outside and enjoyed it for a minute.

In the group I'm in it's portrait week.  Do you think you'll get sick of seeing pictures of me?  Or me trying to get some good shots of myself and not deleting them?  That being said here is my first attempt of photographing myself.

common carotids are where?

Do you know where your common carotids are?  They are on both sides of your neck, next to your jugulars, of course.  ;-)~ 

For school I have to do a project of the left and right common carotids, the aortic arch, brachiocephalic trunk, left and right vertebral and a few other arteries.  What do you think?  Does it look right?  I'm not quite done with it, but I thought it looked cool as is.  I'm going to paint the background with shades of reds and pinks to give it more depth.

just an average sunday

Yep that what today day was ~just your average Sunday that we had at the house.  With 2 little girls one is bound to cry over something.  I looked up and saw T leaning on couch with tears on her face.   And what else would you use a (new) toothbrush for, but to comb your Barbies' hair?

waiting to dance

I really like this photo it kind of reminds me of an Edgar Degas painting.  The one of the ballet dancers getting ready to dance, very much like, Dancers In Pink  it gives you an idea of the waiting to start kind of feelings.  It was just a few minutes before they went out to dance for the first time, and they were wonderful!

Oh and just because I could I tried making it look like a painting...well sort of I'm still getting use to my photoshop software.

where's the buds?

It's late March in Georgia so where are the buds?  Okay so the weather has been a freaky and we've had a bit of snow in March....I just want it to be spring. :-/

Anyway as I was walking by this tree I looked up and saw how cool it looked, went to my car and grabbed my camera ~I am learning to take my camera with me everywhere~ took a few shots and then realized that there was no buds on the branches and then it started to rain that cold yucky rain.  sigh...really weird spring weather.

Look up, what do you see?  I'm in a group of talented ladies that does a photo a day there's a theme each week, I try to follow with one at least one photo once a week.  The women in the group are great and have some wonderful, neat looking photos and I feel humble to be in their group.  This week is looking up.  I think I'm going to follow it more then one day this week. You know what you'll see until you look up.  I've also heard that only dreamers and artists look up.

part 2 of making the quilt

So yesterday I bought the fabric for the quilt.  Cut it out and started sewing.  I did more today.  It helped that I stayed home from school with 2 sick kiddos.  Again hoping to get it done by Friday....and if I keep it up it just might happen!  so in away this is like a self portrait...well of my hand and my sewing machine.  hehehe

piecing a quilt

I like to sew once in awhile.  I'm not as good as some of the people I know but I like to do it, when the sewing bug gets me.  I'm sewing a baby quilt.  I bought the fabric today and started it today.  I think it's coming along nicely.  I already cut the pieces out and and piecing it together now.  I do it in strips to make it easier for me when I sew it all together.  Hopefully if all goes well, I should have it done by Friday.

my little *OLD* yorkie, always looking for some comfy place to lay her head.  Tonight she decided that her dog bed would be the place to be...for now, it changes every few hours.  ;-)

at the park

Boy, I like going to the park on a pretty day.  There were clouds in the sky and the sun wasn't really shining and it looks like rain, but it was warm and dry, the first really nice day of the year.  The chalk was in the hands of little kids and the blossoms were blooming on the trees.  What more could you ask for on a nice afternoon at the park?

something by the front door

I change the things around on the table by my front door for the season or just because I get tired of looking at it.  This is something that my son made in high school a few years back, it's kind of Picasso like face in 3D broken and put back together with wax and glue and some wooden spring flowers to get me in the mood for... well spring...if it ever gets here, it's been so cold lately.

red mortar hands

Just about every weekend since the end of Jan/being of Feb we've been working on our fireplace, ripping down the old mantle and putting up a faux stone hearth all the way to the ceiling.  It's been a long time in coming but it's also most done.  This weekend we started on the mortar and to do it I had to get up on the ladder and squeeze it into the spacings of the stone.  It's a red color and it looked really red going in, not only that it stained my hands red too...very red. I did find a way to get it off so my hands aren't red any more, coffee grounds and dish soap.  Worked like a dream, my hands are normal looking now....well I need a manicure but other then that they look normal ~can you guess what I'm doing tomorrow?  ;-)~

Menage a Trois

It a wine that my hubby got hooked on at a party that our friends R&M were having.  I'm not a red wine drinker but this is nice and smooth.  I just hope that it doesn't give me a headache like most red wine does.  It has 3 type of wines in it Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

I brought my camera with me today to school because yesterday's fog was so cool to see and well I was hoping that it would still be there.  Wrong.  It was raining and raining hard when got out.  I did get a cool photo of the King & Queen buildings, kind of surreal if you ask me.  Did do anything to the photo it is as I took it.  foggy, rainy and gray...lots of gray.

coffee cup

Oh how I love a good cup of Coffee, especially in the morning but, also in the afternoon once in awhile.  And today I wanted one after I got home from school, dreary days do that to me.  I love my Krueger coffee maker.  Makes good coffee fast, and if all you want is one cup it's so worth it.  I forgot that I didn't have any creamer, big bummer for someone who likes cream in my coffee.  But I was lucky the other day we had some brownie a la mode with whipped cream.  It looked so pretty in the red & white striped cup on the wooden butcher block with whipped cream on top.  The texture of them all together was just too cool not to snap a picture or 2.  After I told it and went to look at it I realized that the blue striped make it even more cool with all the lines going in different directions.
